Welcome to this
Article where we are going to discuss the subject of Eternal Life
And You. We begin our journey
by going to the New Testament in the days of John the Baptist. |
"John
said to the crowds coming out to be baptized by him, "You brood of vipers! Who
warned you to flee from the coming wrath? Produce fruit in keeping with
repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, `We have Abraham as our father.' For
I tell you that out of these stones GOD
can raise up children for Abraham. The axe is already at the root of the trees,
and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the
fire." "What should we do then?" the crowd asked. John
answered, "The man with two tunics should share with him who has none, and the one
who has food should do the same." Tax collectors also came to be
baptized. "Teacher," they asked, "what should we do?" "Don't
collect any more than you are required to," he told them. Then some soldiers
asked him, "And what should we do?" he replied, "Don't extort money and
don't accuse people falsely-- be content with your pay."

JESUS spoke to
a Pharisee named Nicodemus -
"Now
there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling council.
He came to JESUS at night and
said, "Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from GOD.
For no-one could perform the miraculous signs you are doing if GOD
were not with him." In reply JESUS
declared, "I tell you the truth, no-one can see the kingdom of GOD
unless he is born again." "How can a man be born when he is old?"
Nicodemus asked. "Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb to be
born!" JESUS answered,
"I tell you the truth,
no-one can enter the kingdom of GOD
unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the SPIRIT
gives birth to SPIRIT. You
should not be surprised at my saying, `You must be born again.' The wind blows
wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or
where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the SPIRIT."
"How can this be?" Nicodemus asked. "You are Israel's
teacher," said JESUS,
"and do you not understand these things? I
tell you the truth, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but
still you people do not accept our testimony. I
have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe
if I speak of heavenly things?
No-one has ever gone into heaven except the ONE
who came from heaven--the SON OF MAN.
Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the SON
OF MAN must be lifted up, that everyone who believes
in HIM may have eternal
life. "For GOD
so loved the world that HE
gave his ONE and ONLY
SON, that whoever believes in HIM
shall not perish but have eternal life."
John
3:1-15

On the topic of Eternal
Life And You, where are you today? Are you like the ones who came to John the
Baptist for a religious blessing? Are you like Nicodemus, who was religious in all
of his ways but did not know the things of GOD'S SPIRIT?
If you are in any way like these people who are living by your own standards or by
legalistic standards, then look into your heart and see that the Word of GOD
has opened your heart and you find yourself wanting before JESUS
this very minute.
