Prayers
Moses replied, "When I have gone out of the city, I will spread out my hands in prayer to the LORD. The thunder will stop and there will be no more hail, so you may know that the earth is the LORD'S. Exodus 9:29 David
built an altar to the LORD there and sacrificed burnt
offerings and fellowship offerings. Then the LORD
answered prayer on behalf of the land, and the plague on
Israel was stopped. The
priests and the Levites stood to bless the people, and GOD
heard them, for their prayer reached heaven, HIS
holy dwelling-place. So
we fasted and petitioned our GOD
about this, and HE answered our prayer.
Answer
me when I call to YOU, O my
righteous GOD. Give me relief from my distress; be
merciful to me and hear my prayer.
The
LORD has heard my cry for
mercy;
the LORD accepts my prayer.
Hear,
O LORD, my righteous plea;
listen
to my cry. Give ear to my prayer--it does not
rise from deceitful lips. I
call on YOU, O
GOD, for YOU will answer me; give ear to me and hear
my prayer. O
YOU who hear prayer, to YOU
all men will come. GOD
has surely listened and heard my voice in prayer. Praise
be to GOD, who has not rejected my prayer
or withheld HIS love from me! But
I pray to YOU, O
LORD, in the time of YOUR favour; in YOUR
great love, O GOD, answer me with YOUR
sure salvation. Long
may he live! May gold from Sheba be given to him. May people ever pray
for him and bless him all day long. Hear
my prayer, O LORD GOD ALMIGHTY;
listen
to me, O GOD of Jacob. Hear,
O LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy. Hear
my prayer, O LORD; listen to my cry
for mercy. May
my prayer come before YOU; turn YOUR
ear to my cry. HE
will respond to the prayer of the destitute; HE
will not despise their plea. May
my prayer be set before YOU like
incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice. O
LORD, hear my prayer, listen to my cry for
mercy; in YOUR
faithfulness and righteousness come to my relief. The
LORD detests the sacrifice of the wicked, but the prayer
of the upright pleases HIM. The
LORD is far from the wicked but HE
hears the prayer of the righteous. "And
when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love
to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners
to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.
But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray
to your FATHER, who is unseen. Then your FATHER,
who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray,
do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their
many words. Do not be like them, for your FATHER knows
what you need before you ask HIM." "This,
then, is how you should pray: " 'Our FATHER
in heaven, hallowed be YOUR Name, YOUR
kingdom come, YOUR will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our
debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.'
For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your HEAVENLY
FATHER will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive
men their sins, your FATHER will not forgive your sins." Then
little children were brought to JESUS for HIM
to place HIS hands on them and pray
for them. "It
is written," HE said to them, "`MY
house will be called a house of prayer. If
you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer. And
then was a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshipped
night and day, fasting and praying. One
of those days JESUS went out to a mountainside to pray,
and spent the night praying to GOD. Bless
those who curse you, pray for those who ill-treat you. MY
prayer is not that YOU take them
out of the world but that YOU protect them from the evil one. They
all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the
women and Mary the mother of JESUS, and with HIS
brothers. They
devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of
bread and to prayer. His
father was sick in bed, suffering from fever and dysentery. Paul went in to see him
and, after prayer, placed his hands on him and healed him. In
the same way, the SPIRIT helps us in our weakness. We
do not know what we ought to pray for, but the SPIRIT
HIMSELF intercedes for us with groans that words
cannot express. Brothers,
my heart's desire and prayer to GOD
for the Israelites is that they may be saved. I
pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in
order that you may know the hope to which HE has called you,
the riches of HIS glorious inheritance in the saints. I
pray that out of HIS glorious
riches HE may strengthen you with power through HIS
SPIRIT in your inner being. That
CHRIST may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray
that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the
saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of CHRIST,
and to know this love that surpasses knowledge--that you may be filled to the measure of
all the fullness of GOD. And
this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in
knowledge and depth of insight. For
I know that through your prayers and the help given by the SPIRIT
of JESUS CHRIST, what has happened to me will turn out for my
deliverance. Do
not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer
and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to GOD.
And
we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the LORD
and may please HIM in every way: bearing fruit in every good
work, growing in the knowledge of GOD. Devote
yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. Epaphras,
who is one of you and a servant of CHRIST JESUS, sends
greetings. He is always wrestling in prayer for you,
that you may stand firm in all the will of GOD, mature and
fully assured. The
widow who is really in need and left all alone puts her hope in GOD
and continues night and day to pray and to ask GOD
for help. Is
any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is
anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. Is
any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray
over him and anoint him with oil in the Name of the LORD.
Elijah
was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it
would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. For
the eyes of the LORD are on the righteous and HIS
ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the LORD
is against those who do evil. The
end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you
can pray. And
when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they
think they will be heard because of their many words. This,
then, is how you should pray: "`Our FATHER
in heaven, hallowed be YOUR Name. "Watch
and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The
spirit is willing, but the body is weak. I
want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without
anger or disputing. JESUS
said; "I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer,
believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." Then
JESUS told HIS disciples a
parable to show them that they should always pray and not
give up. Be
always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape
all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the SON
of MAN. The
prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the LORD
will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. The
Apostles gave their attention to prayer and the ministry of
the Word. Paul
and Barnabas appointed elders for them in each church and, with prayer
and fasting, committed them to the LORD, in whom they had put
their trust. Be
joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
Therefore
confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so
that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man
is powerful and effective. So
what shall I do? I will pray with my
spirit, but I will
also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I
will also sing with my mind. And
pray in the SPIRIT on all
occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With
this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the
saints. In
all my prayers for all of you, I always pray
with 'JOY'. If
anyone sees his brother commit a sin that does not lead to death, he should pray
and GOD will give him life. I refer to those whose sin
does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying
that he should pray about that. We always thank GOD, the FATHER of our LORD JESUS CHRIST, when we pray for you. Colossians 1:3 For
this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying
for you and asking GOD to fill you with the knowledge of HIS
will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. Pray
continually. But
you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray
in the HOLY SPIRIT.
