Army Flashlight

The topic of this Article is the use of and the importance of an Army Flashlight and how it applies to your daily relationship with GOD.

I am confident that this is as subject you would not expect to find normally on Ask Pastor Mark.  The coloration is that I was in the United States Army for more than 7 years during the Seventies.  I learned a great deal toward the value of my Army Flashlight during those years and I want to share some of those things with you in this Article.

If you have never been property of the Armed Forces you would not necessarily know the value of the Army Flashlight. One of the first things issued to the Soldier is a Flashlight.  Being an essential tool both in peace time and war time, the proper use of the Flashlight will guarantee that in the wilderness on a very dark or rainy night, you will be able to find the mess tent in order to get a cup of coffee at 3:30 AM!  J

On the more serious side of things, I seem to find a potential illustration of my Army Flashlight in the Scriptures as well.

Psalms 119:105

"YOUR Word is a lamp to my feet
and a light for my path."

When you live by the illuminating light of GOD'S Word, the HOLY SPIRIT guides your steps, keeping you on GOD'S Path.

The Army Flashlight has two changeable lenses:

(1) - A [red lens] that only illuminates the distance of a very few feet, and is not easily seen by anyone not standing in your boots.

(2) - A [clear lens] that shines brightly for a very long distance.

The above Scripture can be an illustration of an Army Flashlight with it's two lenses.

(1) - 'A lamp to my feet"  An example of an
Army Flashlight [red lens] that illuminates only near your feet so you do not stumble over the small things in life.

(2) - "A light for my path."  An example of an
Army Flashlight [clear lens] that shines brightly a very long distance so you can easily see GOD'S Path for your life.

GOD'S Word has the perfect [lens] if you will, for every situation you will ever find yourself in as you journey along HIS Path of life.
