Love -

At the heart of Christian love is the necessity to have love for one another.

 
"We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers.  Anyone who does not love remains in death."

1 John 3:14

 

 
"This is how we know that we love the children of GOD:  by loving GOD and carrying Out HIS Commands."

1 John 5:2

Laying down one's life for a friend is the ultimate act of biblical love according to JESUS.  

 
"Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down hi life for his friends."

John 15:13

From the teachings of these Scriptures you easily see that Christian love is a lifestyle for the Follower of JESUS.  Set aside your feelings and emotions when the subject of Christian love is involved.  Christian love is 'what you live by', not by your intellect.

When questioned about which of GOD'S Commands is the greatest, JESUS said; 

 
 "'You shall love the LORD your GOD with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."

Matthew 22:36-40

Christian love is modeled after GOD'S love, therefore it is to be:  unselfish, unlimited and unconditional.  You know if you are living in Christian love if those who know you and those who come into contact with you, are aware of it.  It is not possible to have Christian love, and keep to it yourself.

Paul gives a perfect definition of what Christian love is -

 
 "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."     

1 Corinthians 13:4-7


"Let us fix our eyes on JESUS, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the 'JOY' set before HIM endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of GOD."
