Everyone
who knows JESUS CHRIST personally is quite familiar
what the church likes to call; Matthew
6:9-5 "This, then, is how
you should pray: " 'Our FATHER
in heaven, hallowed be YOUR Name, YOUR
kingdom come, YOUR will be done on
earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as
we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but
deliver us from the evil one.' For if you forgive men when they sin against you,
your HEAVENLY FATHER will
also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your FATHER
will not forgive your sins." |
From
this prayer we learn of our absolute need to forgive people who sin against us (vs 12;
14-15), that if we want to live and walk daily in the FATHER'S
blessings, forgiving people is not an option, but a
necessity.
There
is another consideration here as well. Since we have to forgive those who have sinned
against us, we must also come face to face with the need to forgive ourselves when we have
sinned. The prayer we just examined tells us that "the LORD
forgives our debts" as well. Let's take a look at another important
example: 1
John 1:9
"If
we confess our sins, HE is faithful and just
and will forgive
us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." |
If
you are often haunted by your past sins, and find yourself asking questions like;
"What
would I be like today if I had not done those terrible things?" "How could GOD
ever forgive me for the sins I once did?" "How could I ever deserve the
LORD'S love and blessings since I was so wicked back
in the day? |
Then
you are still living under the power of not forgiving
yourself. Here is the logic everyone needs to live by - Since GOD
has already forgiven all your past sins, you do you
have the right to hang onto to those sins and punish yourself over them any longer?
If you do, then wouldn't that make you more powerful that GOD?
Not possible! Ephesians
1:6-8
"to
the praise of HIS glorious grace, which HE
has freely given us in the One HE
loves. In HIM
we have redemption through HIS blood, the forgiveness
of sins, in accordance with the riches of GOD'S
grace that HE
lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding." |
It's
time to live your life in the freedom from your past sins and forgive
yourself here and now. The LORD has provided you
with everything you could ever need to be free. Be free then!
