Living your life day by day in the 'JOY' of the LORD!

Strayed?

God, if there really is a God, I've strayed.  I don't know how it happened, but one day I just went off on my own way.  I do remember saying that I had a lot of fun to have and a lot of life to live before I get old.

Somewhere in the back of mind I remember you impressing upon me that I was heading off for trouble. but I went my own way regardless.  I began to hang out with people who knew how to live on the wild side of laugh.  I discovered that there were lots of people just like me, people who wanted to live for the day and try everything that seemed like fun and never worried about the consequences.

Before I strayed I had no idea what a dance club was, or who went to the clubs seven days a week.  There was so much free drugs and booze in the clubs I began to go to that before I knew it, my life became a blur.

It didn't take long before I forgot who I was or where I came from, all I could think about was getting stoned every night and hanging out with my friends.  It was an easy road to go from the drugs to all the sex I wanted.  I was living the high life if you could call what I was doing living.

One night I met a guy in a club I had just entered and he looked as though he was sober and on a mission.  Standing near the bar, he had a book in his hand.  As I ordered my first drink I said hello to him to start a casual conversation.  When he turned toward me to say hello, I saw the book in his hand was the Bible.

At that moment a cloud fell over me, a cloud of sorrow and shame.  In an instant I remembered who I was and who you were, all the years of following you and your word.  I began to softly cry and the man knew immediately what was going in inside of me.  I heard a soft voice praying to god to forgive me of my sins and help me return to the days of my youth when I loved you so much.

God, you really do exist, you really do love me.  It is me who strayed from you.  Please, please forgive me from my sins against you.  Will you take me back god?  Will you forgive me and let me again be yours?  I promise that I will never stray from you again if you will take me back.  I love you and I love Jesus with all my heart.  Amen.

Does this story sound familiar to you?  Have you known God and at some point in your life strayed from Him?  If you have gone your own way and lived the wild life only to find out just how hollow that lifestyle is, it's not too late for you to turn around, and come back to God.  You can trust that He will forgive your having strayed from Him.  God will take you back right now.  All you need to do is to pray to Him in your own words.  Simply confess to Him that you strayed from Him and His ways and ask Him to forgive you from your sins and that you want to be His the rest of your days.  Don't be afraid, any kind of honest prayer from your heart will be plenty for you to experience His loving forgiveness.

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
  Psalms 34:18
